NICK 14 - The DEC / OCC has not opened up - ask someone in Ryanair and they will tell you that. Don't give people false hope. I tried to get a friend in two weeks ago. Was told clearly by my Base Captain that no plans to ever hire DEC again. MUGABellew apparently blocking it.

Also very hard to get in to the cadet courses now. 50% pass assessments. Maybe cadets - try going to the Bridge "Ryanair" pub in stortford each week - you may meet the assessment guys.

ALPA320 - the Alicante cuts happen in Nov 2011. Check the facts.

WIDERED - ask any of the managers and they will show you the resignation data. Even the kids in personnel and accounts have it. Approx 140 total last year - hardly end of the world.

ryanairpilotSTN,

Ryanair to cut 31 routes from Alicante - Business - Business | Ireland's online business and management news service - Businessandleadership.com

This is the article I read... Nowhere is the month of November mentioned? So what are the facts you seem the know about??

Also you 'tried to get a friend in'??? What is that all about? You didn't read PB's memo that only persons applying through the regular channels would be considered?

For your interest: base captains have nothing to do with recruitment policies... actually the square root of nothing... whatever some of them might think, they are not there for much more than a bit of paperwork and coordination requirements...

I might also point out I personally know a TRE who resigned, only to be hired again (not as TRE), although there had been a clear signal not too long ago: If you go, you will never come back! hahaha... A clear signal to me they are short of commanders.

The fact they couldn't find enough guys to run an OCC was conveniently twisted in a situation they 'didn't require any'... Propaganda at it's best, and some people believe it

regards,

Alpagueur

ALPA 320:

In fact, the articale on ryanairs website speaks about "october 2011"

Ryanair to Slash Alicante Base by 80% This Winter, as Airport?

secondly, I spoke with our base TRE yesterday, he confirmed there are no DEC courses running at the moment.

regards

Thanks Coltrane,

Indeed I just read another article confirming October 2011...

Regarding DEC, I know there are no courses running at the moment...but is it because they don't need them, or because they can't find them? My base TRE told me yesterday it's the latter...

Best regards,

Alpagueur

PS anybody knows why Ryanair wants to pull out of Alicante because of the airbridges, while they look pretty happy to use them in Madrid? I think there is more to it than at first sight (like most of the times with ryr...)

RYR hate using air bridges...FACT.

They are not happy to be using them in madrid, but even the oldest terminal there uses them, so when RYR went to madrid, they had no alternative - and adjusted the turn around times accordingly (only base I believe with a schedule 35 min turn around!)

Regrading ALC, the base was fine with the old terminal, and the option of using stands with no air bridge. Now, what RYR are saying is that AENA are asking RYR to move to the newer terminal and pay for the bridges which RYR didn't want or need.

While you refer to two bases in Spain, the idea of RYR having a mentality of being happy to use bridges in Madrid, but not in ALC is simply not the case.

I believe they will also have to PAY (extra) for the (now compulsary) use of the air bridges.
They prefer not to use them and definitely not to pay for it.

Hi IrishPilot1990,

Yr post "DEC is open, since Jan! unless that has changed in last few weeks."

I double checked with Ryanair today. You can apply online but there are no DEC courses - none since Aug 2010 - and none planned ever again. Do not raise false hopes. Cadets only at Ryanair.

With the McNamara/brk contract on offer now that pays 4500€/month for 65 hours without a single benefit?

FR STN

I don't think it's IP1990 giving false hope, it is on the FR website I have seen it myself, coupled with what you now say abut no DEC courses it stinks of RYR happily letting people apply at E50 a shot knowing full well that they are not going to be running DEC courses.

For those thinking of applying stay as far away from this "great gulag in the sky" it is getting worse by the day.

I for one have booked my one way ticket out of here and will be joining the "Exodus", I am Irish and embarassed to be associated with these gypsies.

For those of you thinking of leaving, do it you won't regret it.

For those of you thinking of joining/applying, don't do it you will regret it.

One last Q, why are so many people leaving/applying to other airlines? Kind of a rhetorical Q!!!

This is from EMT, they will be running DEC, if they can get any, as they do not have enough captains for the summer. If they upgrade all the fo's that are ready then they will still be 100 short.

I assume it was printed in error. I remember reading the article. It said their had been 33 cancelled orders, 25 from one airline, 8 from Ryanair. The article now only mentions 25 cancellations.

8 aircraft pulled from Alicante, news release around about the same time the above article was printed. I suspect its been dumbassitis.

Well put vexed im sure you know as well as me that there is a way to change this situation we find ourselves in if it wasnt so ridiculously easy it would be laughable,We just need all of us togetheir having a collective voice,Its human nature to stay away from the drama only a few brave principled people will ever lead the fight. But mindsets are changing in Ryanair REPA now has nearly 1500 members for example 140 new members over the last couple of months.
It shows people are fed up.We can change our lifestyle to have a bit more respect pilots in Ryanair are starting to believe....
STAND UP AND FIGHT !

John R,

The answer is easy. They are afraid to stand up and fight.
They don't have the guts.

During a car journey yesterday I listened to a group of stories from members of the public who had experienced the bystander syndrome or effect. For those who dont know what this is, its when a crime is being committed and yet every witness stands and does nothing. No one wants to be the first to do anything and so they just let it happen before their eyes.

Sound Familiar?
