DY is expanding and in constant need of pilots but not nescesarilly cpt 's for12 months a year. During summer there is, as we all know, a higher need for pilots but you are also entitled (according to Norwegian law) to a period of 21 days holiday between May and Sept. Those positions has to filled during this period. If all those contractors covering seasonal needs should be permanently employed the company would probably be quite a bit overstaffed during winter.
Yes Norway is funny world but as an employee in Norway you have RIGHTS and DY has a union and a collective agreement, compared to FR. Even the FO's are looked after. Upgrades are according to seniority and quite a few FO's are waiting for upgrade. Would it be fair if they all were bypassed by direct entry cpt's?

The contract offered by FR is way different from the one in DY. When requiering a pilot to start a limited company consisting of three boardmembers including yourself and two others, who can be your grandmother or basically anyone alive, then it's kind of fishy. You are also requiered to use one of the listed tax advisors approved by Brookfield/FR who charge you a pecentage of your gross salary. You are not on duty when positioning and you are also deducted 4,5 pr scheduled block hour for your recurrent training.

Is it stated in the contract with Parc, that the 6 months of service is a probation period, and once the Parc contract terminates, then you automatically transfer to a permanent contract with DY? Of course not!
Contract captains has been flying for DY for years without any offerings from DY about permanent employment.
As said before, it certainly looks like we have a case of severe patriotism here. For some reason FR is always treated as the black sheep in their class. I do agree that they have some questionable policies, but they are not the only ones! DY is exactly as creative as FR when it comes to using contractors and thereby optimizing their crewcosts compared to other airlines. An investigation into tax fraud should include not only FR but certainly also DY.

we are just about to hijack this thread with irrelevant information, but to answer your questions...
Well, old fashion airlines seem to be able to figure out this problem. I know some low cost airlines approach the "problem" differently, to lower costs. The funny thing is that due to occasional planning chaos in DY OPS, a lot of DY folks are selling their offdays during the busy holiday period to gain a little extra money, which is fine. But that is the same pilots who are shouting and screaming about getting their holidays in the main season, and once they finally get them, they are selling them again. It takes a pilot to understand that scenario. Not really relevant to this thread though.
The only problem is that as a contractor you are not employed directly by DY, so you have no rights at all, apart from the few mentioned in the Parc contract. You are not covered by the CWA, and You are not registered anywhere in Norway by DY.
Upgrades from within? yes of course. There are probably many experienced and well qualified F/Os, as mentioned by you, waiting for an upgrade. Again, not relevant to this thread.
I dont know the content of your collective working agreement at NAS, nor your OM. But if you have a pilot that fails to deliver a proper performance he or she will most likely be dismissed contractor or permanent employed. So why not employ pilots directly like many major airlines. Not relevant though.
Sure. Some pilots have had contracts extended several times after they expired without being offered a permanent contract. Polish guys, Greeks, Danes, Italians to mention a few.
Well this is where is I disagree completely with you and a few others. There may be some differences with regard to work patterns, salary and so on, but with regard to tax and social security, the contracts are very similar - which is what this thread was about in the beginning I might add!
Both parties pay their contract pilots salary through an agent bureau by transferring money/salary without deductions of any kind to a bank account, setup by the contractor anywhere in the world, no questions asked. It is like getting money in a brown bag! It may be legal in Norway, it may not I dont know.
Sorry for temporarily hijacking this thread. All I intended to say was, if FR has a problem, so does DY!
Only time will tell what the Norwegian tax authorities are deciding.

Regarding RYR closing bases should the spotlight become too strong: I've heard stories that the sniffing of the French authorities is causing RYR to threaten to close the MRS base. Any truth? The taxman burnt EZ at ORL, so have a history of intent and success.
