Thanks Syntax Error,

I would just ask you, why you use the term "factorized" if these 1500 hrs must be done inside the company? In other words 2 years.
So they surely don't give advantage if you come with 5 yrs of 4 legs/day experience ??

Number of sectors is everything then!

They have both internal site application and with contractors, which is the difference ?

Although I find it hard to believe that our CP would get into a discussion like this; it does sound like it could have come from the big man himself. Wizz is a place where you need to know very well in advance what you are signing up for financially and if you can cope with it, because the pay after deduction for the TR bond is tricky to survive on if you have a debt from flightschool from the west of Europe. However, everything "captdmorgan" wrote is not only "just about right", but as far as I am concerned exactly right.

To sum up; the pay is not great, the people you work with and the atmosphere in general are, HQ really does leave you alone and planes are really maintained to a great standard. It takes some getting used to if you're from a more "traditional" background when it comes to aviation, but contrary to what others have professed on this forum I have never been lied to, cheated or otherwise treated in a poor fashion by this company. The only thing I personally really had to get used to was doing everything yourself. That means uniform measurements, it means your paperwork for the CAA after simulators, it means entering flight data after a duty, etc, etc. Simple stuff that will never cause you a problem if you don't know otherwise. I simply didn't have to pay attention to anything before and this has personally caused me some inconviniences whilst getting used to the way things operate here. But other than that, I got exactly what I signed up for and don't regret it.

With regards to pay what "Syntax Error" says was wrong at the time that I joined and I have not heard of it being changed in the last two years. The difference (i.e. 20K to 25K) is supposed to distinguish a normal FO and an SFO. You become an SFO if you have 1500 hours factorized (which you would clearly have if you have 5K jet time) and no negative feedback from your base captain. In reality; as soon as an FO hits 1500 hours factorized and is not a raging looney he becomes an SFO and at the time that I joined I know people have joined directly as SFO's. Whether the salary is "reasonable" or whatever really isn't even relevant; that's the offer, take it or don't (if you get it). As for recruitment as far as I know it's all been settled for 2013, but I'm not exactly in the know as I'm obviously not paying too much attention to it.

That's my two cents, good luck. And as a last reminder; be careful with taking advice from people that are clearly resentful (over the internet!) or regret their decisions. Sure their reasons for being frustrated may be legitimate, but I personally find it highly doubtful these facts were not known in advance of joining this company. It's a tough world out there and things may not always be or seem fair, but all we can do is try to get on with it with dignity.

Thanks Drfaust,

You know, this is the point.. Considering the salary to take 25.000 or 20.000 can make a difference.

I always considered Wizz a great Company, young, fresh and sparkling.
I have to understand if I can stay in my budget, excatly.. for example past debts etc.

I would know if there is a difference applying from Wizz site or by contractor.

The contracts on offer will differ per base and not by the method you happened to have rolled into recruitment with. If you get based in PL you will most likely be offered a local polish contract. If you get offered a base in RO it will most likely be a confair contract.

There are differences in contracts, etc. but these are exactly the questions you can ask at the point when you have your HR interview. Just make sure you understand very clearly under what terms you would be joining and then make a decision. As for the assessment itself; I assume it shouldn't be too much of a mystery. Ace the technical pilot interview has all the answers, fly your round in the sim and be a somewhat enjoyable chap and frankly that's all. No tricks, no funny business. It should be pretty straightforward for someone with your experience.

Yes, I have not clear the kind of contract, I mean, I prefer to have contract with the company and not with a contractor. I thought it depends on where do you fill the application, internal site or contractor.

Has anyone who applied with Wizz heard anything back from them at all? If so, how long is the process taking since then?

Boeing Europe

Hey Boeing Europe, did they call you after you sent your documents, or have they sent you the technical quiz or conducted a phone interview since then as well?

How long after sending them your documents did you hear from them after?

Cheers and good luck.

I guess you are all experienced on something..

I've applied on their website directly and they were very quick to give me a negative answer (couple of days)..

Which base

Hi !

Does anyone have an idea which base would be the best between : Budapest, Belgrade and Warsaw ?
Regarding contract and accommodation, etc...

Also I worry I would be assigned to be based in Belgrade that seems the worse of the 3, is it? Any experience there?

Thanks !

If I were given the choice, I'd choose Budapest.

It is central, growing and easy to commute to and from if necessary.

Warsaw is a nice base. The city is OK too. I enjoyed my occasional flights from WAW.

Belgrade is also a nice city, but it is the smallest of those bases mentioned. Therefore, I'd aim for the biggest one first as you'll have more variety and very likely more sectors, which in Wizz can mean more pay.

Those 3 bases are by far from being the "worst" bases in Wizz Air.

You'll enjoy any of them.

Personally I would view a Bucharest base as not so shabby at the moment. I have a couple of chums there who quite like it.

What's the craic with Wizz looking at experienced but not TR'd guys? And folk that are between the age of 30 and 40?
