As far as the crews at Warton are concerned, there is no definite evidence to support this rumour but several of them have told me that are worried and like so many "rumours" there quite often is some truth in them

cadet scheme suspended?

For those interested in the cadet scheme another avenue to becoming a professional pilot has just been shut off. With one fully trained cadet given his notice and two others 'in training' had their training stopped, I would say the cadet sheme is well and truely finished. Such a shame as it was one of the last great apprenticeships left in this industry. For Highland to say goodbye to all that training and investment they have made in the cadets, this surely is a sign things are pretty bad there. If the above rumours are true, my thoughts are with those who may be affected.

Just out of curiosity (since I live in Finland), what/where is the base in Finland?

Not looking for a job - retired several years ago but married to a Finn.

Sadly it may well mean redundancies but it is not the end of the world.
Tell that to those already on the redundancy list. I recommend body armour when you do.

Whats happening with the highland 41's, heard that they are being parked up and crew laid off. I always thought highland were able to keep busy and had some long term work for these aircraft?

Highland lost the contract flying the J41 from Edinburgh.

The crews are currently working thier notice period and the aircraft that was used is currently on the ground.

There is also another J41 lying in bits in the back of the hangar.

There seems to be a few people here sadly rubbing there hands together with glee at the prospect of yet another airline going under, with many hard working dedicated people losing their jobs. I work for the 'competition' but have a good friend at Hwy, and frequently come across their crews at various island airports. They all seem a good bunch. Just think how difficult it must be for these guys with all this speculation which has been hanging over them for months. Why is it that some of you seem happy at the prospect?

Jetstream is that a hard fact or just conjecture on your part?
Capt C did you enrol on prune for the sole purpose of making that one post?
Fred I have been in the Hwy hangar in the last month, and haven't seen a J41 lying in bits as you put it. I saw one in the early stages of refurb. Perhaps this is what you mean but thought you would put a nasty little spin on it.

I hope we never end up in this situation at Logan, but my heart goes out to the Highland folks, and I am sickened by the amount of people here who seem happy about their predicament.

Thanks Guys

Sk8erboi & Say again slowly.

It is indeed an uncertain and worrying time for everyone here at Hwy. Your comments and thoughtfulness are very much appreciated guys. Thank you both
