I also have been accepted for assessment in Athens and my IR rating has JUST expired - any new news or info regarding this? The way I see it is I had the IR etc valid until just recently (few days ago) but surely these are all automatically revalidated during the type rating when you do the LST in the sim? Although invited for assessment, will Agean automatically reject a candidate for this?
I appreciate any reply on this matter
Thanks

Hi everybody. I called aegean again today and they said after looking at my license, that it's ok to do the exam. My IR has lapsed more than a year ago.
Hope this helps.
See you in Athens. Good Luck!

Thanks COSTA1979!
I was a little worried abut this issue. However, do you think we should all contact Agean about this or was the response they gave you a general one?
Thanks Again

Preparation
Hello Folks!
More or less the same question as Costas,
How will you be preparing for the assessment?
I tried to find information concerning the GAPF test, but couldn’t find preparation information, just the outlines of the competences they will examine.
I have passed the DLR for Lufthansa Italia and wonder if it’s similar?
Are mathematics & physics being tested as well? Or are these subjects just like in Germany only for Ab-initios?
All the best!

3500 for a Captain????
That`s why they are always recruiting. An exodus should be taking place. I prefer to go China than receiving this crap salary.

A different opinion
As a new member of pprun I wish you good evening. As you can imagine a occasional reader of this forum there are many different opinions on this issue of the Aegean. Our view on this issue lies somewhere in between. It is true that the payroll of the Aegean is lower than any other payroll companies in the same as the Aegean but the essential problem of aviation in Greece is the wrong perception from part of entrepreneurs. Everyone knows that many Greeks are proud people and this is probably the bad because the opportunity in light of the crisis on entrepreneurs to make the most of what they have. The conditions in Greece have changed and are changing daily charging each Greek with huge costs. If one takes into consideration that the product is called "experienced pilot" bought expensive today and add to it the economic situation in Greece, multiply this by the fury of operators to take full advantage of the pride of the pilots know what means what follows? one sided equation that results bear the indignation, the monotony, point dangerous to aviation safety and much more for "The Aviator"

Apparently they only want to hire a few pilots. I have heard maximum 15. That means that only about 5 non-rated will be hired. However emirates has started hiring again, and many of the f/o's that have been with AEE for years now are getting fed up with the non-existant chances of command. I suspect that this will not be the last time AEE will be hiring pilots in the near future. However, they are smart and they are taking small steps. This is why they are only hiring a small amount of pilots now. Only the absolute necessary number of pilots will be hired now, and if things go well, they may hire more.

Approximately 50 out of 250 candidates have made it to the last phase of this long and demanding selection process. 20 rated and 30 non-rated are the approximate figures. Rumors say they ll take around 10-15 now and another 10-15 on April. So far 5 rated were hired starting in 1 month.

True. 10 type rated only passed the sim, 5 got the job, 5 of them still to be interviewed. TR chances of employment is really high after a successful sim.
I dont really know what the chances are for the non type rated ones. As far as people say something like 20+/- non TR are going for the interview.
Still depends on how many positions are available, rumors say 15 +shortlist which sounds normal, some say 25, i even heard 30
good luck to the ones to be interviewed.
cheers

Let's try to refresh a bit this old thread! Any news about them ? T&C? Salary (cp and fo) ? Selection?
I know that they have selections going now with contract air.
I would like to have more informations, maybe from the inside.
