Many thanks.

Alright...here goes.

No cynics please - I'm trying to be helpful and UNcynical.

Young fleet, staff (for the most part), CEO.

Low cost staff (with several different T & Cs throughout), support structures, ancillaries. This means that there is alot of weight placed on staff motivation to get the job done on-time, every time - and to the credit of all at the coalface, it gets done thus.

Rosters vary every month; crew can bid for days off/special requests but nothing's guaranteed. Pilots get about 10 days off each month with the posibility of extra days off (DFDs) and reserves thrown in just for fun.

Bases are the biggest variable with regard to lifestyle. Some bases have lots of trip density which equates to more days off, while other bases work you all the days they can with short multi-sector days.

Overnights, though once rare, are creeping in with the narrowbody expansion into Asia from Darwin and Perth. At the moment, there's a nice mix of day trips and overnights. But the company philosophy is for the fewest overnights, so expect bases in those two ports to reduce/remove overnights.

Fleet; the widebody fleet is pretty stagnant at the moment because those brain surgeons at Boeing have finally proved to all that anything more complex than a tractor with wings is beyond them!! So it's six A330s for the foreseeable. Narrowbody is still expanding. 30-something strong and quite a few scheduled for delivery this year.

Pay is about 60% of Captain's rates for F/Os, which comes out to about $90k base. Overtime starts at 75 block hours in each month. Overtime varies from base to base. NZ conditions are unknown at the moment, but expect less.

Future, although ostensibly bright, is an unknown at the moment (with the industry in such a state of flux). But it seems that there will still be growth in Australia via the narrowbody fleet and both fleets in NZ.

Recruiting has been pretty slow since mid last year, but with the start of AKL flying should start again. I think there's a hold file, but not sure how many are on it (if any).

Best bet is to jump online and put an application in.

Hey On the note of Jetstar, did they close the ADL base for pilots? Because on the recruitment site, it says adelaide is a base, but i heard that its now closed?
