I quite agree - although I do confess to some slight anticipation to the next load of tripe that he/she writes as fact about one airline or another. Does bring some sort of entertainment - particularly when aforementioned tripe/fact is as everyone else predicts - wrong, leading to more amusement with the backpedalling and reinvention of 'facts'. A sideshow to the forum.

Aspaceman could be right. KH has said (in writing) that things are happening behind the scenes so watch this space! Heard a rumour that TG is looking at pastures new, is that another one deserting a sinking ship?

Interesting point you made about TG flapjack320. In all the airlines I have been associated with the management appear to pick and choose what they want to do and then they loose touch with how things really are at the coal face. Is that what has happened at GB?
What was the outcome of the vote at GB, are the pilots going on strike or has a deal been struck?

As reported earlier, the result of the ballot was 92% in favour of a strike. This forced the management to agree to a "relocation" package which is now being put to the members to accept or reject. After having had time to inspect the package, many of the members are of the opinion that it is not good enough & it does not resolve many other outstanding issues. It therefore remains to be seen whether the package is accepted.
One of the other issues is how to improve the appalling relationship between the pilots & management & TG moving on would certainly help in this respect. Contrary to flapjack320's comment, I would suggest that a number of people would notice & would find their career prospects dramatically improved.

Let's make something clear here. TG, the guy you are slating off, and AP, the guy who should be running Flight Ops, but got shafted by Bungling Silippery and the Yorkshire Terrier are the backbone of what GB has owed its success up until now.

Sounds like you have had a run in with one of these guys.

Flop Jock 320 wind your neck in.I would not want to be a management pilot as I do not wish to be on call 24/7 and to have to deal with arrogant smart-arse know-it-alls like you. Also if you work 20 days every month, no standbys, and are expected to be available in office hours is it not reasonable to have a roster that fits in with these other comittments.

GB operates a very fair and open command selection procedure and in industry terms has a very benign training department. Plenty of people have got commands with GB at the earliest opportunity.

If you feel you have not realised your full potential maybe you should look at your own shortcomings not blame a training department!
If you feel it is unfair you could always discuss it with BW, he is in charge and I am sure he will lend you a sympathetic ear!!!

TG & AP turned a flying club into a decent airline operationally with a proper recruitment and selection procedure. When they ran Flt Ops constrained only by Slippery 'I will tell you exactly what you want to hear' Bill, GB Airways was a much better place than it is now. If I was TG I would be gutted after 17 years to see what a shambles it is. You can guarantee if TG leaves some brown-nosing mate of BGs will fill the position.

Flop Jock good luck in easyJet I think you are in for a shock, unless of course you are in the chief pilots wedding photo!

A Case of mistaken identity I believe.

On the BALPA company forum the person a couple of you have wrongly assumed is flapjack320 has asked it to be made clear that he is NOT flapjack!!

Clear as mud.

I dont understand why flapjack 320 has been removed for his comments yet M C Saville and his vitriolic attitude remains. Mr Saville (MS) you seem to be getting a little personal quite unnecessary. You slated Flapjack for his comments but not Miss Inform who seems to have similar thoughts. You have contradicted yourself more than once, may I remind you that you started this thread slating management and now you are backing at least one of them, must be after a training job!! Maybe its time to wind your neck in!!

Now I understand management work together (good CRM principles) so you cant just blame individual managers for the state that GB is in. As has been reported several times GB used to be a great airline to work for and has changed over the years, at least one manager has seen both ends so if he is credited for the good times then surely he should accept some of the blame for the current situation.

I do hope things are resolved quickly at GB, I dont have access to the BALPA forum but I hope flapjack continues to contribute to this forum.

GB has gone from such a pleasant place, to such a crap airline to work for. Low pay, crap hours, an unhappy workforce, management and admin staff leaving in droves, half the pilot workforce with applications in elsewhere,.......... and still the management bury their heads in the sand and ask the pilots to trust them one more time.

Personally, I think its time to act. The last 15 promises have not worked so why will this one? The goodwill and positive management energy is there because there is a threat of a strike. Remove that threat, and the energy and goodwill will go, and it will back to the usual Autocratic "stuff the lot of you" attitude, that we have come to experience at GB. After 7 years there, I and about 17 others I know are looking to leave.

I hope the vote for the improved offer is rejected as it falls way short of my expectations. My concern is that if the offer is rejected, it will be perceived by the company as a rejection of the Company Council and their efforts. This would not be the case - the vast majority of the pilots back our CC boys - it would simply be a rejection of the MEASLY offer.

Not long now till the results are out (despite BALPA advertising that the package has been agreed!)

Im not so sure, all the BALPA comments are negative apart from one puppet who thinks the measly offer is reasonable.

Of course the management now want to talk. They have want they want, and simply want the dust to settle, then eveything will get lost in the chaotic summer schedule, and any further company developments. They have won if the offer is accepted - the pilots move, with no compensation (the extra rest time is taken up in the extra travel, and the extra few days leave in the winter is only until a new SLD is agreed - ie we will have to concede that back in order to improve the SLD - I got that chatting to a CC rep.

Im not so sure heebs

Devil

After a massive vote in favour of strike action, & BALPA CC subsequently rolling over & giving in, they are now trying to convince the pilots to follow suit & accept the deal.
Wonder who will get the new pilot management jobs?

The CC have not rolled over, they have done a brilliant job. It's now up to the pilots to secure their future, or reject the offer.

Agree...... CC have done a great job. Way above and beyond the call of duty.

Unfortunately some senior Capts are voting in favour of the company's offer which is a promise of things getting better!!!

GB management must be laughing all the way to picking up their bonuses from the bank........ cos if the company wins the move to JH will cost them nothing.

The turnout for the revised company offer is exceptionally low. Could this be a sign that people do not want to endorse the offer as they think it falls way short of what they were expecting? Its hardly reciving the resounding backing that the company were expecting.

Perhaps the low turn out reflects that people do not want to vote against what their CC is recommending, as they support the CC, but want to reject the offer on the table?

Time will tell. Am sure management will be patting themselves on the back already

surely if you want a voice then you should return your ballot papers, if it is a low turn out as indicated on the previous post then the management gets its end goal with little fuss........some would say that it is good management....divide and rule....straight out of the management handbook along with mushroom management......apathy rules!!
