Jet2 Manchester to Ryanair Liverpool?
I see that Ryanair are holding an Open Day at Manchester on 19th April, presumably to poach from the likes of Jet2.
I would get better pay, a more stable roster (maybe) and the NG in exchange for more work and a management that are difficult(!) to deal with.
Bond, not cash up front. Travelling to LPL isn't an issue for me.
Do I need to go to the Open Day?

Hilton Hotel, Manchester Airport, see latest Flight mag.
It says bond, not cash up front, for a full type rating so I am assuming bond also for Classic to NG.
Most airlines make you change base when you get a command, I believe.
Would any Ryanair LPL pilot care to comment? Would be useful.

MANBLK - before you attend or sign anything you also need to read the following (see post #7):
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=214074
Ryanair are very short of people at the moment (and will behave relatively reasonably towards prospective employees - at least until they sign up). You will be bonded for 5 years (and that will be interpreted to have the consequences that they decide). You will be on a deal which was rejected by around 90% of existing Ryanair pilots. This deal, as per the Flight ad offers you a "stable 5 on 4 off" roster. Ask them at the open day for a list of the exceptions and possible changes to the "stability" and "4 off" part of the deal. Ask them if it is true that there are pilots who have signed on but not been paid for periods of 6-10 months (and ask will it be possible to get it in writing that it will not happen to you).
The salary quoted is "grossed up". You might care to ask them how the salary figures are calculated, since nobody other than them seems to understand it (but do understand being paid less than they were told). Before you leave where you are, you need to gross up your current salary up for comparision.
Finally, it would be really interesting if somebody like you did ask them these questions and reported back here what answers they are giving.

BBT, thanks for getting this back on thread! Also for your useful points.
It's disappeared from this thread, but someone posted that they got a payrise of £1200 moving from Jet2 to Ryanair Stansted - would that be for a Captain or F/O, anyone know?

Hi Guys
Just reading through your posts with interest. Without having to send Ryanair £50 to apply for a F/O's job, could someone please tell me if FR would look at me with a fatpl and a 737/3/4/5 type rating with TT 400hrs? If, they are desperate for crew is it worth me applying, or is just a waste of time and £50.
The reason I ask because i don't fit into anyone of their recruiting categories and maybe someone from ryanair could shed some light on the subject.
Thanks.

Just remember girls and boys..... No smoke without fire! If you think that FR will be a better bet than Jet2 then think again. It depends on what you are looking for in an employer. If it is acceptable to you to work every legal hour and then some, with too much work and no play then spending your days off sleeping/recurrent sims then fine.... you'll certainly earn good money compared to the likes of Jet2.
However, as we all know the pay isn't great at Jet2 but it's certainly not all bad, especially with respect to the relatively sensible balance of work and time off. Whilst our management of late have not perhaps engaged brains before opening their mouths at least they appear to have listened rather than the pig-headed uncaring steam rollering that you would expect at FR. I don't need to go on as we all know what to expect in working for them. I have good friends at FR who tell me that similarly to Jet2, the boys and girls at the business end are good people..... just the serpents at the top that need bagging and drowning!
If you think the grass is greener then jump.... but surely you can't be that desperate to consider FR just yet .... look elsewhere!!!! Personally I think that if Ryanair were the last 'operator' then I would rather re-train and do something else.

As a current Ryanair captain ...please, please, please don't do it. You will regret working for Ryanair for the rest of your career. All, I repeat, all of their promises on pay, roster, conditions and everything else are based on lies. Do yourself a favour and leave Ryanair to it's fate.

Why look at Ryanair at LPL, EZY are well established at LPL, desperate for experienced SFO/FO, continuing to expand, BALPA regognition which looks like its got them a 10% pay rise and you get a type rating on the Airbus to add to your B737 Classic.......
Your choice but could be worth considering if you are in the RHS but only very limited and unpopular opportunities to join in the LHS (again from info gleaned on Pprune elsewhere.)

Easy at LPL
LPL is a Boeing base just now. If you join now on the Boeing you will be moved to another base when LPL goes Airbus.
I know this because they failed to mention that little snippet when they approached me six weeks ago.
Always read the label. MANBLK good luck with your decision

Easy doesn't appeal. Nor does Ryanair now, but I thought perhaps it might be worth it for the NG and loadsa stability & cash (promised but obviously elusive). Jet2's looking pretty good, I don't think I'll be at the Open Day.
Thank you all for your comments, and thanks too to Jet2 for the PM.

I Went out of interest, met some retard who claims to be a ryanair test pilot and ryanair base captain at liverpool.A prize advertisement for not joining. What are they offering "the world",what are they delivering "absolute rubbish.Have a good read through the latest pilot magazine to see how abn-amro thinks that ryanairs expansion is now jeopardised by their lack of crews and their inability to attract experienced crews. So for anyone joining do not even consider paying for your rating and by playing hard ball you will get a better deal than they are initially offering.

Bartelby... Sentements and fears already expressed, the management reponse is .... "The decision to move has been made and will not change, there will be no revised relocation offers". So I guess that means take it or leave be made redundant !
What more can one say ?

bartelby,
I am bending as many ears as possible and general sentiments amongst most crews are that the move to LBA is the wrong one. But..... as ILS has says the decision has been made. I can't see it being reversed. Remember that PM makes these decisions but as we all know he's unfortunately surrounded by a rabble of 'Yes Men' with no balls or backbone of their own. Managing Director ... my bottom... did an absolutely cracking job (no pun intended!) representing ops and crewing and backed out of the proposed meeting with PM to put across their case for remaining in BOH.
Can I ask why there hasn't been a thread started by someone at BOH that relates to the LBA move? I would have thought that there would be more of you guys posting about your impending demise!
