Hi guys, bit of a different question here.
How did you manage to get invited for an interview? Did you apply via the website or just by sending your c.v. in or by any other means still?
Would really appreciate the info!

Is it still open or has it now closed, tried looking on the BA website but i can't find it. Though some would argue, not being able to find the application form in the first place would be a case of falling at the first hurdle!

Hi!
I am trying to get hold of someone for the PIT interview training. No reply at [email protected] or with their advertised phone number. Pilot Interview Techniques Training . Anyone knows if they still run courses to prep for BA? Any other institutions providing the same type of prep courses?
Thanks

Hello all,
Could anyone who has recently been through the BA DEP selection day help
me with the following.
I am trying to find out which logic is used in the Micropat Capacity Test?
Ie do the crossbars respond in the normal sense or in reverse sense or a
combination of both (ie one bar works in the normal sense, the other in
reverse sense)?
For those of you who have used the software by Cockpitweb, which test
is like the real thing; moving cross 1, 2 or 3?
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any info on approximate take-home pay for a Yr1 Direct Entry FO at BA?
PPJN says £48,500 + £9/hr flight pay + £2.87/hr duty pay. I make that about £2,900 per month basic take home + around £800 flight & duty pay which I assume is taxable so more like £500 = £3,400 per month net (without pension)?
Am I way off? Any current BA guys able to shed any light?

My year 1 average take home was 3200ish
That's after pension, loss of licence, flying staff recreation club etc.
Also be aware that I was on the Airbus at Gatwick where we were a bit workshy - although not by our own choosing. Between my medical 2009 and 2010 I flew about 350 hours!
I would say that 3400 would be a realistic figure for an FO at LHR in Y1.
Out of interest, Y2 for me was about the same as Y1. But Y3 is so far about 3800 (I've moved to LHR now). There's been plenty of overtime of late. Hourly overtime rate for a Y1 FO is about 40 quid plus allowances (£9 per hour) and FDP (£2.87 from check-in to 'release') - sounds good but beware DEPs Mr Osborne likes his 50%.
IMHO - re the wage its good as long as you don't have a penchant for big watches, fast cars and even faster women. But hey where's the fun in that.....
Again, because I know so called journalists trawl this site. Some numbers for perspective! Please take these with a pinch of salt.
Lets say I worked 250 days last year and did 4 sector days thats 1000 flights.
Now lets say that each flight had 100 people on it, thats 100,000 passengers that I was partially responsible for - I say partially because ultimate responsibility lies legally with my four striped colleague.
My take home pay was (last year) say 3200ish X 12 months = ~ £38000
£38000 / 100,000 lives = I looked after each life for the cost of about 40 pence each.
Guys and gals, get your logbooks out and do some number crunching over a cup of coffee - its quite an eye opener.
Hear endeth the lesson....

Care to elaborate on that.I am sure you can afford to buy yourself a fast car and pay the mortgage on that income.
Also do BA pay bonuses at the end of the financial year.

I've been called for an interview with CityFlyer which I'll go to, but their take home is around £2400 a month give or take, if BA main guys struggle to live on £3200, how on earth do the CityFlyer guys manage?

January 2011 Outgoings
NB: Some items on the list are split with the my other half (eg tv licence, council tax etc etc)
525 Flying Loan (only 4 more years to pay - 6 paid so far)
505 Mortgage + Home Insurance (mortgage = 800, I pay 5 Mrs Brody pays 3)
240 Petrol
150 Food / household bits n bobs (other half pays a further 150 = 300 for total bill for the month,)
124 25000 mile car service
100 Golf club membership
60 Council tax
50 Gas, water, electric
33 House Phone + Internet
33 Balpa
30 Gym membership
22 Car Insurance
20 Monthly golf lesson
19 6 monthly car tax (113)
18 Hair Cut
18 Mobile phone
10 International Animal Rescue
6 TV Licence
5 5 x iTunes
5 RAC membership
5 Pet insurance
What follows is not attempting to rub anyone up the wrong way - just me being honest about my life.
I should bring home about 3800, above adds up to about 2000. Wow 1800 surplus you say - true, I did say it was a good wage for a Y3 FO - but as I also said, it would soon go if you threw in 500 a month for a decent car repayment or a credit card bill for a 4 grand Omega watch etc etc.
I prefer to do different things with my money...
Ive got three holidays planned for 2011 - New York, New Zealand and a golf trip with pals to Spain, plus a mini cruise to Brugge on the Oriana. Saving to buy a bigger house (we currently live in a very pleasant shoe box) as Mrs Brody is starting to get broody - AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH. We eat out about 3 times a month. Go to the cinema about twice. There's always bloody vet bills for our brown and white **** machine and so on it goes...
I'll say again - I did say it was a good wage, just a word to the wise: be careful. A fool and his money are easily parted.
Also, lets not forget that the top 2 items on that list will increase as the BOE base rate does. Also, if/when some babinos arrive my other half will probably take the better part of a year off - therefore no splitting of bills for the that period.
