Hi,

Thnx. I used the verbal and numerical reasoning test booklets you can get on amazon.com. How to pass a verbal reasoning test, how to pass a numerical reasoning test. The verbal test is the hardest, focus on that. The numerical is very simple and this only requires you to train your speed to calculate very simple calculations. Ie. A machine punches 15 holes in x seconds. How many punches is that in y seconds? Very simple, just train your speed.

Good luck!!

GA,

Welcome to the company. Interesting times ahead, although, to be honest, BA has never been a dull place to work!

Hi guys, just a quick question for those that have been through the simcheck already. How many of you would recommend a session beforehand at your own expense? I would appreciate responses from any who have been successful or not in the sim. Finding £600 for one hour would be a struggle for me so I want to make sure it is absolutely necessary. It's not a question of how badly I want the job, more that I'm poorer than usual at the moment!

Congrats to those who have passed.

Any advice or links to practice tests for the numerical part?

Regarding the example questions in the interview, did they specify whether they wanted you to give examples from your personal life or from work situations, or did they let you choose? Its just i've got plenty of work examples, but hardly any from outside of work!

500 on type

Question for anyone that went to the assessment:

A current type rating on either the Airbus A320 series or Boeing 737/757/767, with an ATPL(F) and a minimum of 500 hrs recent experience on type.
Please ensure you have these hours now, at the point of application.
for your information recency is:- flown on one of the above type(s) within the last 12months

So, if i read it right, means 500 hours on the above type in the last 12 months, right?
if someone was flying less than 500 due to part time or vacation or anything, cannot apply, or means 500 on type, and the last hour withing 12 months?

Thanks
D

I have had confirmation on this, it is 500 hours on type, and you have to have flown the type within the last 12 months.

Hope this helps

Why not give them a call, they are very very helpful people in the recruitment department

I beleive the requirement is 500 hours on type, last flight within the last 12 months.
I've got 2000 on type, but i've logged more positioning and hotel hours than anything else this year , so deffo haven't logged 500 on type in the last year.

Just to help clear this up,

I had a job offer from BA yesterday ( with a start date )

it's more than 500 hrs on type - experience
have operated that type in the last 12 months - recency

"A* current type rating on either the Airbus A320 series or Boeing 737/757/767, with an ATPL(F) and a minimum of* 500 hrs recent experience on type.

Please ensure you have these hours now, at the point of application.
for your information recency is:- flown on one of the above type(s) within the last 12months"

hope this helps you guys out.

Ah, this REALLY helps, thanks you guys!
i have 2550 on type, but i have been flying again the 737 only since july so i am short of 500 in the last 12 months, since i have been flying private jets for first half of 2010.
Ok so i am safe, right?
thanks!
i am due in 2 months anyways

Revise your mental arithmetic. In the test, concentrate on speed and accuracy. Don't guess. Do as many as you can. Skip hard questions and concentrate on the ones that you can do quickly. I think its pretty much been said in this thread several times.
The questions are not that hard and I know from personal experience that doing 20 questions out of the 25 is enough to pass.
