Yes it can be turned round and it does only work for dot in box and not for the cross in the middle task.

Anyone else got a SIM and fancy doing some prep the beginning of Aug, please PM me. I am looking at 2hrs at virtualaviation.co.uk seems good though rather expensive for 2 hrs (£1000). But if I can double up with someone and get 2 hrs PNF/PM then thats 4 hrs well spent I think.

I found that for the subtractions the quickest way is to add the 2 last numbers as above. - in fact just check the last digits - no point doing the whole sum if the last digits don't add up - it can't possilbly be correct.

For the radar I just kept track of the N/S and E/W components, and muttered them to myself i.e
20N ..... 20N
10W......20N, 10W
30S.......10S,10W
30E........10S,20E
And then reverse them at the end. i.e in the example above put the cross on 10N, 20W and press the button.

For the NE, SW etc vectors you can do the same but you need a bit of trig - i.e 15NW is the same as 10N, 10W. 20SE is the same as 14S, 14E

I'll let you work out the numbers - but I just memorised them all - they are all pretty similar - and a bit of rounding up or down doesn't hurt.

You may find a different method that works - but that worked for me.

All good tips for the Maths based and spatial problems. Has anyone got any good tips or exercises, notwithstanding the SHL Solutions test, that can assist me with the Verbal Reasoning section. I've heard some nightmare stories concerning the True/False/Dunno answering technique ultimately ending up with people wishing they had more practice before the test.
Any clues?

SSP Sim Check

Great thread so far - have just read it all looking for information on the Sim Check, which I am doing soon. There doesn't seem to be a massive amount of detail on the Sim Check here, and what there is mostly relates to DEP selection.
It would be great to read any info on Sim Checks from the SSP persepctive, if anyone has any.
Thanks

Anyone scheduled for BA assessment day 1 on July 9th? It would be great to meet the day before the assessment. Don't hesitate to contact me, thanks.

Assessment

I'm headed down to Cranebank on the 10th July. Found out this morning which doesn't leave a great deal of time to prepare!
Glad I've been keeping an eye on this thread - appreciate the info everyone!

Has anyone got a copy of the Cockpitweb software which they no longer need? The website says up to 8 days for delivery - not quite the timeframe I have...!

cockpitweb software

i thought it would take ages to get the software too, hence was asking if anyone has an old disc. However, the software is not sold on disc, it is download, and I had mine going (with a bit of help from a computer knowledgeable friend) in about 36hours from ordering. Why not send them an email to see if a fast response is possible?

Top tip - read the install notes on their website AND all the possible problems on the tips page BEFORE you try the install, as there are one or two possible glitches. Also, restart the computer if you hit a snag, as the startup program caused my computer to jam up and this cured it. Same goes for joystick - I couldn't get it to work with the cockpitweb exercises although it would with other things, but a restart helped with at least most of the tests (won't work with 'frames'. Overall it's a good bit of kit.

Good luck

Cockpit

Hi everyone,

Just having a play around with Cockpit web and was able to open it twice, to have two different exercises on at the same time. It takes a bit of playing around with at first. Minimize the numbers and shapes exercise to the far right of the screen, leaving only the shape and score box visible. Then have the dot in the box exercise open at the same time. It just gives the option to link these tests together for extra practice.

It's not perfect as a small part of the dot in the box exercise is cut off on the right hand side but you can improvise by moving the mouse curser around the screen and flying the dot to that when the box isn't visible.

Hope you find it helpfull.

Hotel

Hi folks

Im attending an assessment day on the 17th and wondered if anybody has any thoughts on a good hotel to stay in nearby?? Half decent and easily walkable to the centre would be what I'm after I think.

Thanks.

1) How many black pilot's does BA have on their seniority lists?
Any black Captain's?
2) Have the interviews included any black applicants recently?

hotels

I've always found the IBIS to be decent enough, and reasonable too. It is a fairly lengthy walk to Cranebank though. The Jury's Inn is the closest to Cranebank....I'm not sure about cost for a room there though.

I've searched back through many many pages of this thread, but it seems everyone was obsessed with the sim time / no sim time debate!

Just wondering if anyone who's been to stage 1 recently has had any 'new' interview questions that haven't been previously mentioned?

Thanks.

I'm off to 'the rivers' on thursday by the way!

A simple question! I have no point. Just answer the question.

How many black pilots are flying at BA? How many black Captain's?

How many black pilots showed up for recent interviews?

Simple question requires a simple answer.

Probably not enough to start a BA Black Pilots Association

No idea, but not a small number. Ditto 2nd question (but obviously less than first number). No idea to 3rd, since I am not involved in the process(es), but again, presume in accordance with the number of applicants

angryblackman,

One of my former colleagues at KLM is black (as the ace of spades! ). He was taken on from Air UK by KLM and at the same time offered a place at BA (I believe he chose to stay at KLM).

I suspect that skin colour at BA, and indeed anywhere, is as much of an issue as you want to make it.
