I guess Air universal By passed Evergreen for the second one. Here in this photo JY-AUB is sitting at schiphol for maintenance checks by KLM.

Evergreen was first, then KLM
The Air Universal aircraft are ex Lufthansa. They were parked at Marana for some time. Evergreen owns the entire facility so in order to get your aircraft out of there you have to submit to Evergreen who performs all the maintenance, and, they tend to pad the bill to say the least.
So before the nice picture was taken in AMS, it first had to depart Marana and the clutches of Evergreen.
Air Universal could not afford the more than $ 1,000,000 bill that Evergreen presented in Feb during the Hajj and had to wait until now. They first 747 is operating for Iran Air, and supposedly the 2nd one will join the contract.

Air Universal and I are going to settle.
AN AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED
While employed by Air Universal , awaiting to ferry one of their aircraft sitting idle, I decided to go home and be on call. Meanwhile I was offered a job with another company to fly what remained from the Hajj schedule. I took the opportunity rather than keeping idle and took the new job. It was due to oversight that I did not inform my employer Air Universal who later discovered that I was flying for someone else.
When they contacted me I told them that I left them but forgot to inform them they owe me a salary for 20 days only till the 20th of Feb 04.
They asked for verification and I sent it showing that I departed the United States on 18th Feb 04.
They insisted on an apology for what they considered as misconduct on my part before paying me for the time I was supposed to be their employee.
It is regretable that it had to come to this , but I apologize for any inconvenience caused by my action & their reaction.
Air Universal now is willing to settle this and I am thankful for that.

Yip thats the way it works in the ME. Sound too good to be true, well it probably is.
I have been there ad done that. Working for any Arab company is not an option for me as sooner or later one will get shafted.

Air Universal Has wrapped up in tehran for the time being.
1 B747 and 2 Tristars are in Tripoli doing the Umra runs.
1 B747 is at AMS undergoing an A check after which it will fly to Karachi for its Hajj contract with PIA.
