Hu hu studi,

have a question,
I was wondering how the Dutch guys from KLS did enter in
mass to LH? Was it the trend of the new millenium?
KLM had not enought seats in their Cockpit so they decide to give their Ab-initio to LH?? is that the way it happened?
Do they speack fluently Deutsch? Cause as far I as know they don't really like speacking German. (Your grand pa took my bicycle, I don't want ofence anyone ))
When they enter the compagny they had no Airlines experience like the Swiss guys had as they join directly after being returning from ATTI then Eldee NL.

Just to avoid missunderstanding, I have no problems with the Dutch guys in fact I know lots of them, and I did appreciated all the party that we had together.( Hello to KLS 97-2 and 98-1) !!! They are great guys.
I beleive that sometimes LH rules become flexible depending on what ever reasons. I think this is a Wrong attitude.

No matter the name of the test, DLR, CX or EK test etc.............
Just be yourself !!! It should be enought for anyone to get tru it.

Frohe Weinachten !!
Bis dan

To be clear:I am not one of the involved KLM students, but I happen to know the case very well.....

KLM has hired only few pilots in the last few years and at the time dozens were on a waiting list (as is the matter with LFT Bremen students now) As Lufthansa was in desperate need of pilots a deal was made with the KLM flightacademy. An understandable step as KLM flighttraining is very much like Lufthansas own LFT training scheme in Bremen/Arizona.

Let it be clear that all students went trough the same selection procedure LFT students went through e.g. DLR etc and many failed to pass as well. Also the FQ was part of the selection. This was done in German, which answers your question on the language. Eventually just over 80 joined the Kranich airline. (a couple of them returned to KLM one year ago)

Their German may not have been fluent at the time, but I reckon it has improved and has become better than your English

Studi was accurately with his description. When you start as F/O on the mainline, you are not restricted to bid to Condor. Progression to wide-body at Condor has always been faster than mainline. When a position open, you can bid to Condor. You are not restricted unless you are locked to your type.

My own progression went from 737 to 744. I could be Cpt on short haul A320 fleet but I prefer to stay on long haul for personal reasons. We all have different reasons to stay on a certain fleet. Some senior Cpts prefer to stay short haul and don't have to fight the jet lag. Some hate passengers and prefer to fly cargo. We all hate deadheading.

I don't know of anyone started on the A300. We need 5 to 7 years on short haul doing 2 to 4 sectors a day in challenging weather to perfect our skills. (4 is very rare). On the 744, I may do one take-off and landing in 20 days.
