Concorde pilots in BA have the same salary as any mainline pilots flying any other aircraft. There is a salary scale depending on length of service. Top salary is 120,700 sterling basic for captains. That is 24 years of service.

Regards

BA's pilots salaries are based on time in the air; hence long haul skippers are the highest paid in the company.

I don't think there were (nb past tense) any special bonuses for Concorde pilots.

Don't know how true it is, but I have heard more than once the BA Concorde crews were generally more junior on the senority list. Seems the more senior crews preferred better schedule over prestige

What you were told, more than once, was incorrect.

Strange reply 7E7, not one of my course (who trained at Hamble while it was being built) opted for Concorde.

We all had the seniority but the option was a roster of numerous JFK's as opposed to a roster with a week each month on a Caribbean beach.. no contest

With regard to remuneration, the Concorde captains used to have a £200 a year "development pay" added to the basic pay. That has long since gone and prior to its demise Concorde crews were well down the "take home pay" league in the airline....

The fleet also had the highest Manager/ Line pilot ratio which meant the “Jollies” were all snapped up by Bannister and Co. before roster publication.

Yep Concorde for the enthusiasts, 747-400 if you wanted to retire worth millions (or pay off wives one and two).
Then of course, there's my chum who never married anyone, flew Concorde, got on the 777 when it started, did the French taxation thing and is now tax resident in Cyprus, teaching Air Vietnam how to fly the 777. Oh ... grrr!
(I'm due to meet up with him next week. I'll smack him in the mouth if he STILL maintains he'd have been better off as an actuary!)

Red face

I won't have a word said against Porky. He is a true Gentleman, who has never lost the common touch. He treats ground staff and other pilots with the utmost charm and really appreciates their value and of those who support the operation and kept Concorde flying. In fact, I've often been walking in Compass Centre with Porky walking towards me and having known him for some years I can only think he ignores me because he doesn't want to hold me up because I maybe busy.

All flight crews are well worth their money however inflated it is for a forty hour month. Like many professionals they spend a long time and make a large commitment toward attaining there position. Unlike many of the pen pushers and latte drinkers at Waterside and CCO.

Angry

HZ123 - I saw a Cabin Crew counsellor coming to the aid of a grief stricken CSD in Compass Centre, the Counsellor placed his arm around the distraught chap and said 'Come on now, whats wrong, wht are you so upset?'. The CSD blubbered with a tear rolling down his cheek 'Well, well I'm so upset today....' The counsellor retorted ' I know losing Concorde is bound to be upsetting but she's done us all proud' but the CSD looked up and sniffed ' its not the bloody Concorde..I,...I, just had to pay for my own coffee, and I'm a CSD!'

Really HZ123, you must lose some of those preconceptions about flight crew! Inflated salary for a forty hour month? Where do I sign up for part-time? I did twenty hours in my last two days! Doing the sums for my roster this month gives me 74 hours flying, 134 hours on duty for the company and 320 hours away from base, and that only just meets the required targets for October. Do you meet many ramp staff who haven't been home for 6 days?
