speed

what's the maximum and minimum decent speed for a 747 at FL 350 in terms of mach number? does Flight level make a difference?
what about for a 737/800 series?

I don't know how many responses you'll get to this question with such a vague thread title. I opened it expecting to be able to help but found it a waste of my time.

I thought there were supposed to be "rules" about this?

I've changed the title ..... qsp888 - please do try to work up more meaningful thread titles .... it costs OzEx a mint to surf from his location ....

For the 744, max speed is .92, or .90 in RVSM airspace.

Normal descent speed is roughly the same as cruise mach, or .83 - .86, until intercepting about 290 - 340 KIAS at lower altitude. These will depend on gross weight, selected FMS Cost Index, and airline FOM.

Typical would be .85 Mach to 310 KIAS.

Minimum varies with gross weight, but would seldom be below .80 except in unusual circumstances (e.g., ATC restriction).

thanks a lot, Intruder.

Typical speeds for 737NG is .78 then 300knots.
