ATR42/72 Flap Settings?
Could someone please provide some information regarding flap settings on the ATR42/72?
What I would like to know is the following, for each type:- 1. Available flap settings/positions? 2. Standard flap settings for take-off, landing, single-engine approach? Many thanks in advance :-) |
ATR 42-300 : Flap 15,30 and 45. 15 for take off 30 for landing 45 not gnerally used and protected by removeable baulk.
ATR 72-200 : Flap 15+ 30 as 42 but no flap 45 at all its been a few years though. |
Hotel Mode: Many thanks for your reply - most helpful :ok:
Could you please also advise the setting to be used for a single-engine approach? And would these be the same for the ATR42-500, to be specific? Also, and at the risk of pushing my luck, any chance of someone providing a couple of pics of the flap gauge & lever? Thanks again... |
Have a look at this link :
http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/open.file/354536/L/ The flap lever is on the right side of the pedestal you can see the red flap 45 lock in position. The gauge is on the main panel below the gear handle. |
Jetavia: Excellent - many thanks :ok:

The 42-500 has 15 , 25 and 35. 15 for take-off and 35 is the landing setting.
For single engine approaches requiring level flight (MDA to MAP or circling) the landing settings are only used when landing is assured. |
Miserlou: Many thanks - I did suspect that things would be a bit different on the -500 :ok:
Am I right in thinking that 35 is the final setting for this variant, with no gated 45 position available? And presumably, the 25 setting is just a momentary, intermediate setting whilst extending to the landing setting? Thanks again... |
That's correct, though 25 can be used for landing if required.
The 45 position on the -300's is for emergency only. |
Miserlou: Thanks for your further reply & clarification :ok:
