Pilatus PC-24: Take off and Landing Procedure.
Dear Pilots,
I do flight simming in desktop since 1989. As regards to my profession, I work in Biman Bangladesh Airlines as Principal Engineer, Competency Assessment of the AME's. Recently I have set up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. In there, I have Pilatus PC-24 jet, the flight model of which is not accurate in my opinion. In the sim, I set FD toga mode, pitch shows 8 deg. nose up, ROLL and GA FMA indication. I use AT THR mode. After take off, if I maintain 8 deg pitch, the jet accelerates very fast. If I select FLC mode and engage AP, the plane pitches up to slow down to 115 kts, FMC target speed and the plane stalls. It is much better to do all manual. But I think a jet of this age should handle all these with ease with automation! In this respect, I would like to know about the take off and landing procedure of the PC-24 in detail. Or, I'd be happy if I could have an Operations Manual of PC-24 describing those procedures in detail. Please help me. Thanks and regards, Haseen Ahmad Dhaka, Bangladesh. |
Never flown one but in my aircraft the FD also shows 8 degrees pitch up by default. I also use THR mode to give takeoff power which initially remains fixed. After takeoff the FD will then rise to whatever pitch attitude is required to hold the speed of approx V2+15. At thrust reduction we would engage Vnav or FLCH as desired and accelerate.

Thanks for replying! Which airplane do you fly? In the sim, pc24, pitch command does not change to match with target speed. Haseen Ahmad. |
What are you setting on the MCP and where are you getting your performance calculations from? Again, not the same airplane but on Boeing when you select FLCH it targets the speed you have on the window, not the FMC speed. If it says GA for pitch maybe you're using the wrong takeoff mode? What do the FMAs read when you recycle the flight directors?

Thanks for your help! But PC-24 is quite different than Boeings. The AP Ctl pnl in pc24 is small. No window to show values, rather speed value is displayed at the top of speed scale in the PFD. Actually I need to be connected with a PC-24 pilot. Thanks and regards, Haseen Ahmad. |
