B737NG Predictive windshear Warning on takeoff
Hello all,
This has been discussed here before. I have looked through a lot of topics, but I am still puzzled: Sorry....... The following scenario: B737NG uneventful takeoff roll with no PWS alerts at all. (V1 is at 145kts) You have now reached an indicated airspeed of 130kts. Is it possible to get a PWS Warning aural at this speed? Hint: I am confused by the word "new" Kind regards, Dr. Feelgood |
No, as per the FCOM, my bolding:
“During takeoff and landing, new predictive windshear caution alerts are inhibited between 80kt and 400ft RA, and new warning alerts between 100kt and 50ft RA. These inhibits do not remove existing predictive windshear alerts. If a warning/caution event occurs before those boundaries, it will remain on the display and the complete aural callout will be annunciated.” Unless you were already receiving WS alerts prior to 80/100kts, you won’t receive an alert until after you are in the air. |
Thanks for your reply. To conclude the matter: between 100kts and Vr, there will be no PWS warning aural.
Unless you were already receiving WS alerts prior to 80/100kts, you won’t receive an alert until after you are in the air. But if this happens, you should have rejected the takeoff already for a PWS warning. Doc |
Unless you were already receiving WS alerts prior to 80/100kts, you won’t receive an alert until after you are in the air. The way I think about it is that if I hear the word Windshear from the machine while taking off I am stopping. ( because it’s a warning). If I hear the words ‘monitor radar display’ then I am probably stopping, not definitely, but probably. With either of them I expect I will be either in the low speed regime or only just entering the high speed regime. Happy to hear others thoughts on the subject. |
