A320 Gear Down Lights On

Having flown recently as self loading cargo on an A320, when the landing gear retracted/extended, the EXIT signs within the cabin extinguished/illuminated.

If the gear fails to retract/extend, do the signs also fail? Can they be used as a backup to the landing gear indicator?

Does the A330/350 also have these EXIT signs too?

I don't think you could use them as an alternate means to determine gear status. If I've read the FCTM right (always debatable), the signs only illuminate when both the main gears indicate downlocked, the NLG is not sensed as part of the logic.

It also depends on the Mod status, not all 320 series aircraft have that kind of "sync" feature.
