Takeoff F15 737

Hi guys, in which cases pilots use f15 for takeoff? Only to lift off shorter?
i just flew with Ryanair and I saw a f15...I’m pretty sure

misd-agin 2nd March 2020 19:19

For shorter runways. If I remember correctly we used up to F20 for takeoff on shorter runways.

I don't recall F20 on the 737!

F25, was an option for T/O, although I don't recall ever using more than 10.

B737-2/-3/-4 experienced - many years ago!

What route was this and how full was the aircraft?

BluSdUp 2nd March 2020 20:44

Short contaminated?

Random example, ENHD Haugesund rwy 31, temp 2c ,wind calm, QNH 999 and the BA medium to good,T/O Weight 71800kg:

Flap 5 Max allowed weight : 69749kg
Flaps15 ..............................:70887kg
Flaps25...............................:71803kg with 26k full and V1-124 Vr-138 and V2-146.
So, this gives You a margin of 3kg
BTW
HAU rwy 31 is 2060m no stopway and 300m clearway ( ocean).

On a fine summer day You are good with Flaps 5 at 25c, but as it starts raining as You start up You are down to 68882kg max,
Flaps 25 it is only going to give You 71134kg
What to do?
Start APU and review the No Engine Bleed Takeoff SP CL ( Never done it myself)
Off you go with a max allowed of 71989kg.

Ps dont forget that APU at FL100
Happy Takeoff

There’s no flap 20 in a 737. Take off flap settings are 1,5,15 & 25. As alluded to, 15 & 25 are for field limited departures. The SFP (short field performance) variant of the NG has a greater wing camber (up to flap 15) providing an even greater regulated take off mass in comparison to the conventional model.

Flap 10 is a valid takeoff flap setting as well.

And here's me thinking this'll be a video of an F15 vs 737 takeoff race...:{

How much "power" does the engine bleed take out of the maximum available? Just curious about the effect it has when activating "stuff" it's used for.

Regularly see up to F25 used by our optimizer to improve derate.
Just as a side note.

In this case: 855kg more payload, or a change from maximum 26K at 99,8% N1 to 100,3% N1 so 0.5% more N1, ie thrust.

That's exactly what I was thinking!!

Skyjob 5th March 2020 10:09

When we operate the 737 out of BRS, runway 27, we need many high flap takeoff settings combined with bleeds off to make it to the canary islands.

Thank you. I remember doing greater than F15 takeoffs but couldn't remember if it was 20 or 25.
