DC-8-61 engine pylons

Was there a problem with the engine pylons on 61 series aircraft
when it came to be re-engined with CFM jet?

With the advent of the 61/63 series,Douglas introduced a limit of the amount of 'reverse'one could select in the Air(legal).Up until this time one could select ,if required,MCT on all four for the descent..With the stronger engines, and after certain 'freighter'operations(Used to cruise to 60miles of destination-then use all in MCT),which twisted the pylons-Douglas limited the inboards only to MCT,and 250knots??
I believe that the CFM required a New Pylon design:eek:

Your story is quite interesting.
Recall years ago UL hired an ex-Eastern Air Lines Captain who insisted that the proper way to descend (L10) at destination was to begin at 65 miles (idle thrust, full speed brake)...never mind pressurisation, ATC, pax comfort. This resulted in being high and hot nearly every time...and scared the cr@p out of the other crew members. UL sent him back to the sim and mentioned "please" do descents our (normal) way...made no difference, so UL had to say goodbye.

Wonder WHERE guys get these ideas?
