Altitude and Speed Constraints
 

Hi there,

Do speed and altitude constraints still apply when you are on an offset or a heading?

Any reference will be good. Appreciate it.

One exception to this otherwise universal rule is the UK :rolleyes: For no apparent reason at all expect to be vectored in parallel to the published STAR and be fully expected to meet the altitude restrictions you were previously given for certain points along it, only somewhere abeam of them.

Chapter 6

"When cleared to proceed direct to a published waypoint on a SID or STAR, the speed and level restrictions associated with the bypass waypoints are cancelled. All remaining published speed and level restrictions shall remain applicable."

Unless indicated otherwise by ATC of course.

Yes, but how about if on a heading or an offset?

On our network, ATC usually issues instructions like "Descent to FL040 and fly direct to ABCDE, no restrictions" or "Left turn heading xxxº descent to 5000ft, no restrictions"

...and then I always ask for high speed :ok:
