Airlines Removing O2 From Lavs?

I recently flew a flag carrier and was surprised to see a sign (in just two languages) saying to return to the cabin in the event of a loss of cabin pressure. Is this common? Which airlines are removing O2 from the toilets?

My airline has a strict maximum of two person (think mother changing baby). But it's a bit of a nonsense when some airlines don't even have O2 in there.

I have travelled on carriers that have had the same signage, BUT, O2 was still available in the toilet. Was there a sign saying that O2 was NOT available? Did you confirm that in fact O2 was not available? I think it may be the said carriers SOPS to have everyone seated back in the cabin. I find it VERY hard to believe that emergency O2 was not available in the toilets.

Kindly check this website that has information about the reason behind the decision to remove the oxygen from lavatories. Basically is for security reasons.

Many thanks, an interesting read.

In the US, the FAA required the removal of chemical o2 generators. Now they are requiring o2 back in the lavs. On our planes (737) we are currently installing o2 bottle systems where the chemical generators used to be.
