DMI

can anyone tell me if it is permissible to clear a DMI,and raise it 20 seconds later as the same DMI, in order to get lets say another 10 days?
I think not, but would like some expert advice...

What I have seen done is to move the item along to another airplane... for "troubleshooting"... Doesn't make it any more acceptable though.
