What is the correct power-up sequence for A380
 
How do you power up the cockpit in A380? Assuming GPU (Ground Power Unit) is not connected yet:

1) Turn the batteries 1,2,ESS on?
2) Connect External Power.
3) Turn the EXT PWR switch (ELEC) on?


I was under the impression that without DC ESS on, BAT 1 and 2 alone will not anything to the aircraft? Does anyone know the correct procedure?

We rarely do it, so.

1/ get out FCOM normal proceedures
2/ read and do.

When you say "We rarely do it", do you mean you almost never have to do the power-up (it's done for you)?

All power up procedures are read and do. In 15 years of flying airliners, I have never had to power up.

The Aircraft is fully powered by our Engineers before we arrive ALL of the time in my mob.

When the Aircraft terminates we don't power it down either ( we turn everything off but leave the power on ) Engineers do that after they finish their duties.

The only time we would is for an Un scheduled diversion to a port with no company Engineering support, then we could do it ourselves from the FCOM.

This is of course my Airline that only operates Wide Bodies. Friends in QF and DJ still power it up in the morning from dark in lovely cold places like Canberra and Hobart.

Nothing like a warm cockpit all ready for you.

All power up procedures are read and do. In 15 years of flying airliners, I have never had to power up.
RJ pilot in th US. We do it all the time from memory. It's one of the things we're tested on during checkrides.

ACMS, same for us in DXB, only done if aircraft gets it's underwear in a serious twist, usual Airbus 'if all other thing fail' procedure (obviously only on the ground/engines off, JIC someone gets some strange ideas);)

Yeah I know what you mean, so far in 4 years on the Bus we've had to power it down twice to fix problems.

Although I must say I've done it on the 777 as well.

Must be a flight-simmer... There are 4 external power pushbuttons on the 380, not an EXT PWR switch:}
