A320 ECAM "Boxed" items
 

Hi all,

Just curious as to what the significance of the Rectangles surrounding some of the ECAM items is, such as ENG 1 FAIL, DC BUS 1 FAIL etc... is it to do with these failures having associated failures??

Primary system failure. Here is the FCOM explanation.

"The ECAM DU displays a primary failure as a boxed title. It identifies a secondary failure by putting a star in front of the title of the affected system."
