BOAC re Tee Emm's exercise:
I would suggest that the simulator is probably spot on for a simple aux drive shaft failure? However, some FADEC engines have the core speed sensor moved to the innards of the engine, inside the forward sump (bearing box). When this is the case, there is still a coastdown/windmilling N2 signal available - and I'm not sure whether this signal would be conveyed to the cockpit (because the FADEC loses PMG power when the shaft breaks). Further research is necessary. Over a glass of Thanksgiving wine. ;) |
