wind calculation
 

hi,
I found some wind speed calculations according to altitude.
"h is altitude in 1000 ft"

a) wind speed (knot) = 2h + 47
b) wind speed (knot) = 1.5h + 36 (for 0-14000 ft) and 2.5h + 22 (for 15000-31000 ft)

I guess (b) is utilized in France, isnt it ?

I would like to know if there are any other utilizations about wind calculation according to country ?
