B737 EEP, EXP, ETP in FMC
 
At my last company, we would put EXP, EEP, and CP (or ETP) in as temp nav data points. My current company wants us to draw DME circles from the alternates to define the points.

How do you note/display your ETOPS points?

we use floating waypoint after the destnation rwy/approach, and the waypoints are separated by disco's

Don't think many operators are drawing circles these day as they simply do not reprsent a true picture of the range. As far as inserting ETOPS Entry and Exit point in the FMC, or for that matter the actual ETP Lat/Long I do no believe it would fall under best operating practices. Are you using a"tailored" Jepp plotting chart? May of the tailored charts have range arcs already printed.

Having said all of that I'm not familar with the 737NG FMC and what it can or cannot do. Can you put a Lat/Long on the FIX Page? Is it critical that you know the exact second you fall into ETOPS airspace? If you have marked the chart it seesm like you would be able to watch for the crossing??

You have choice to display as EEP, EXP, ETP1, .... or simply WPT1, WPT2, ...

First at the end of LEGS page, add any waypoint (EGKK i.e),don't worry, you will delete it at the end

Enter in the scratchpad geo coordinates of ETP1 and put it below EGKK, WPT1 is created.
Enter ETP2 geo and put it ON WPT1, it will create a discontinuity between WPT1 and WPT2 automaticely
Same for EEP, EXP,....


You should see :

EGKK
WPT1
-------
WPT2
--------
WPT3
-------
etc

Now DELETE EGKK and EXEC

Check on MAP, these new WPT are on the route but not active (here but not magenta !)

That's it

The nice way is to name your waypoints ETP1 pr EEP, .... in the NAV DATA page and to recall them with the same way in the LEGS page

Using it on every etops flight


last, in FIX1 page, as you should put your ERA1 , choose /420 ou can now cross-check your EEP and EXP...with FIX page 2

We use the fix page to identify these waypoints. For the EEP and EXP we put 394 nm (with winglets, 388 without) rings around the designated airports. For the ETP we build a waypoint in the temp nav database using the Lat/Long from the release then add it as a fix. Once we have done the fixes, we verify their positions on the map display by cycling through the waypoints in the plan mode.

We use fixes because we do not add non-navigational waypoints to the legs page for an oceanic segment.

Display an arc from your last suitable before etops, using your one engine out dist. As this is based on zero wind crossing the arc puts you into etops (EEP). Continue this in fix page 1 and 2 with all your en-route alternates as they come up and when you cross the arc again you are non-etops (EXP) . ETP can be entered either in flightplan or in fix pg 2, thus using only pg1 for arcs.
