Just to put this one to bed and hopefully back on topic, yes oxy generators are purely machanically activated but the is a safety cap that should be fitted on removal. In the case of valujet this was not done.

777 limits

My outfit's limits are:
overseas
2 crew 650
2+1 observer, 900
2+2 1150

Domestic 600, 700, 900. In practice, at home base they get changed at about 1400.

Flight Crew Oxygen Requirements

Regulations require that sufficient oxygen be provided to the flight crew to account for the greater of supplemental breathing oxygen in the event of a cabin depressurization or protective breathing in the event of smoke or harmful fumes in the flight deck.

The good old reliable Boeing, at 15 degrees bottle pressure for dispatch for a crew of 2 3 and 4 needs to be:

470/655/840 PSI for the 115/114 Cu Ft Bottle Installation.

655/940/1215 for the 76 Cu Ft Bottle Installation

Check your aircraft’s specific manuals for minimum requirements for dispatch. Your company specific may require greater bottle pressure for dispatch above the manufacturers certified minimum.

757 : about 850PSI for crew, 1500PSI for maintenance, they refill then to about 1800. However I've seen companies that have no maintenance limit and let it go to crew limits.

Riccardo / ASFKAP

Yeah, I confused them with squibs, just remembered the absence of safety caps or being discharged for transpo. Been a long time since I worked pax. The whole thing turned into a witch hunt looking for a scapegoat in a situation where there were several persons or layers of safety that failed the systems resulted in many lives lost.

I allways wondered why valuejet was not held responsible for unsecured cargo.

FCOM's and GMM generated publications often differ, both are appoved manuals for dispach and time is often the factor. FCOM's become the limitation usually, both are appoved manuals.
