B737 landing gear off
737s landing gear lever in position off -
does it mean that that there is no pressure in the pipes around gear at all? so is it held in position mechanically only? would this mean that in case of hydraulic failure and in case of lack of nitrogen pressure on the emergency extension system that: gear could be gravity entended? thanx for your contribution |
when the 737 gear lever is in off, you are correct in saying that retract lines are depressurised. the legs just hang on the uplocks. in an emergency the legs are manually dropped mechanically via 3 individual cables which are pulled from a panel in the flight deck floor, operating the respective uplocks and letting gravity do the rest.

just to add there is no nitrogen system for the landing gear on the 73. Mechanical and gravity do it all.
