Spurious operation of spoilers?

As a bored pax gazing out over the wing (B737), I have noticed the speed brakes making occasional minor deployments at what seems like the wrong time e.g. just after rotation. The panel lifts no more than a few centimeters and retracts again in less than a second - I assume the flight crew are not doing this, especially a few seconds after lift off. Is it some very smart function in the aircrafts automation? Is it supposed to occur?

NO, you should call a newspaper and report this !

Actually it's ok, it's just the low speed roll with the help of the spoilers ;)

I think he's trying to tell you that spoilers also assist in roll control,..like the ailerons,...if they 'runaway' they can be disarmed/deactivated

Crosswinds????

As mentioned, the spoilers assist with roll control and you should also see the ailerons move in the same direction in synch. It's normal.
