flap setting in gusty conditions

hi all,

for an A330 what would be the recomended flap setting for take off in gusty conditons when windshear has been reported?
would flap 1+f or flap 2 be better?
the books mention abt a flap setting for landing only.

thanx

Which do you think is better and why?

well...

flap 2 gives you better tail clearance.
where as flap1 gives you a better climb along with the retraction of flap if the speed was to exceed 200 kts.
so what do you think?

Perhaps a read of company approved SOPs is in order.

If windshear has been reported, why takeoff?

dinie 15th March 2009 04:28

Yup,delay your takeoff if you have windshear reported

The title is "in gusty conditions", so till now I prefer conf 1+F.
Adding reported WS I have to consider a delay first. If the WS is not reported but the suspect about its presence exists, still conf 1+F.
Unless otherwise quoted in the company SOP.

thank you henry.....:ok:

was flying out of hongkong the other day and there were reports of significant windshear for the approach as well as the take off. (+ or - 20kts)
the winds were quite gusty and the controller kept on adivising everyone that he had an electronic wind shear alert.
im sure most of the guys who fly into VHHH know this is a common or daily occurence.

thanx

If it's coming off Sunset or Lantau peaks it needs watching.
Sitting there on GP/CL/Speed  one day and suddenly left/high/fast - just like that! Tommy Cooper couldn't have done worse ;)
