E135/145 Throttles

Guys,

Is it true that the E135/Legacy/145 don't have autothrottles?

If it is, several questions:

Isn't that bloody frustrating for you Embraer operators?

Why, with all its digital displays and complex computer systems, does this popular aircraft no have autothrottles?

Many regards

Frustrating? Why the hell frustrating?

I used to fly EMB with no A/T and it was no problem at all.
With A/T it's more comfortable, but why frustrating? :}

I don't know of any type below 20 million $'s that has AT

It's just one more thing to monitor, isn't it? I am hugely surprised - I thought it was such an advanced aircraft!

Not Thottles----

---technically they are Thrust Levels, and tell the FADECS how much thrust is being requested by the pilot.

The biggest hassle is in the cruise. We cruise (EMB 145) at M0.76, and MMO is M0.78. Unfortunately as the Mach no.'s are determined by the ADC, a change in SAT of a degree or two can be enough to have Miss Brazil shouting her head of at you, followed by some unwanted paperwork !

Not flown the Legacy version, does that have autothrottles?

I've got thousands of ERJ-145 hours- and I never missed the lack of A/T.

However my current type has an autothrottle and for sure I'd miss it.

On the Barbie, you get used to thinking 'power', everytime you do something. Not a problem.

My two penneth; Legacy doesn't have auto-throttle, but there's no reason per se why Legacy or 145 cann't have auto throttle, it's just down to expense. Infact I believe the LuxAir 145's do have them fitted, because they are CAT 3 capable. I think it's a requirement for Cat 3, but stand to be corrected ?

Hi CJ1234!

It was good to have you on the jumpseat.:)
As you could see it's not a big thing to fly the Embraer without autothrottles (sorry-"autothrustlevers") but it would be nice to have it anyway. Like this it would be much easier to read the newspaper ;)!
And the thrustbuttons give us also a kind of autosystem for the poor.
Yes, it is an awesome machine and well equipped, but I guess they had to leave a couple of things out, otherwide they'll not be able to sell the 170/190's!?

I still have your pen...

No they do not have autothrottles. But they are still CAT3 thanks to the HGS.

ATs are not required for CATIII autolands - at least not on the B737CL.

I am even more surprised that Boeing sell 737s without wing-tip strobes!
