That 787 cockpit - what does it really look like then?

Like this actually. (I know this is only sort-of, kind-of tech, but I think any discussion might be more interesting here than on R&N.)

Great find! It retains those distinctively Boeing features :)

Where do you plug in the iPod? :)

The extra box above the MCP is just there as part of the testing. It won't be there when they go into service. And it still has control columns because the pilots need some way of flying the plane. :ugh:

And it still has control columns because the pilots need some way of flying the plane.
Is that so ?

Then how do Airbus pilots fly their planes ? :ugh:

Spooky 2 14th June 2008 02:26

They don't! They just manipulate them through the skies:hmm:

FCS,

thats the CCD (cursor control device). we have them on the b777 already. after awhile they get insensitive! personally, i'd preferred the track-ball!

Looks like the old 777 to me!

Not much innovation for such an "high-tech Advanced Technology" Aircraft

It's supposed to look as much like the 777 as possible. Boeing is planning on a common type rating with the 777. The idea is to have the controls located in the same place as the 777 and for all practical purposes. operate in the same manner.

F111 15th June 2008 04:50

It will also fly like the B777. Boeing are also working on a reduced course for 737NG pilots moving onto the 787.
