Avon 101/RA.3 Bleed Valve
 

The Avon RA.3 had a Bleed Valve system to dump air at low rpm. I understand that this was used to suppress low rpm surge. Can anyone tell me whereabouts the air was bled from ? I had assumed it was at the back-end of the compressor - but I seem to recall seeing a mention of "inter-stage bleed" at some point. Wasn't sure if that indicated something more complicated.
