A320 Scan flows & checklists
Hello,
Where do I locate the scan flows for the A320, are they printed in the FCOM & QRH. Also can somebody please list the checklists which have to be performed from memory please as I know alot of the checklists appear on the ECAM. |
Scan flows are found in FCOM SOPs. Recall items are: Loss of braking, Emergency Decent, Unreliable Air Speed Indications, TCAS RA, Wind Shear, Ground Prox' Terrain. I think that is it. Not a bad idea to have a sound knowledge of the Tail Pipe Fire actions. Emergency Evac used to be a recall but has become a 'Reed and Do' item.
Some operators will modify this list to suite their operations. Hope this helps. |
Just checked and so they are. Cheers

Normal cockpit scan flows for all phases of flight are in the QRH. As stated earlier, many companies will amend these flows to suit their particular requirements. They may publish the 'new' flows in their QRHs, or, more likely, in their SOPs. In general A320 SOPs are done on a phase-of-flight chronological basis.

7 memo itens.
u miss one = > windshear ahead cheers |
Are these seven checklists the sole memory items ? There must be more than this, surely SMOKE/FUMES/AVNCS SMOKE must be one also. Does anybody know if there are anymore memory items to be added to the below list.
EMER DESCENT TCAS WARNINGS EGPWS ALERTS LOSS OF BRAKING UNRELIABLE SPEED INDICATION WINDSHEAR WINDSHEAR AHEAD |
Tail pipe fire?
|
Some companies will have tailpipe fire indeed as a memory item.
Standard airbus is not to have it as a memory item, instead some companies elect to have the tailpipe fire c/l on the back of the normal checklist. 1 company I know of also has the excessive cabin v/s as a memory item. (manual switching of the CPC's). S. |
memory item
some airlines add pilot incapacitation
|
memory items
airbus sops are not bad
usually airlines will add some depending on incidents happening on every day work |
I am sure this supp. technique is a memory item for most of us.

How about he FCTM (Flight Crew Training Manual)? Mine for the 330/340 has great full colour fight deck pictures with the flows....Any 320 drivers out there with the fctm on disc or hard drive? Great document as it has all the handy ref`s to the correct places in the FCOM`s and QRH. If you drive or plan to drive an airbus it`s worthwhile printing it out and binding so you can scribble on it...:)

memory items acronym
here's an acronym that helps me remember..
W - Windshear E - EGPWS B - Brakes (loss) U - Unreliable Speed S - Shear Ahead T - TCAS I - Incapacitation E - Emergency Descent hope it helps :ok: |
Hi Redout,
SMOKE/FUMES/AVNCS SMOKE is not a memory item with airbus and neither is it one with my airline. I would highly doubt if any opeartor would have this particular checklist as a memory item as one would consume their entire lifetime memorizing it. The mentioned checklist is a Read-and-Do. The 7 memory items are the ones you listed and airlines would ofcourse add to that either "crew incapacitation" or "Tail pipe fire". However, i would like to add that EMERGENCY DESCENT memory item would be co-related to SMOKE/FUMES and you would have to apply EMERGENCY DESCENT in case you suspect smoke. |
Windshear Ahead is a function of Predictive Windshear which is an option. Not all companies have it.

I agree with FlightDirector. My company has few if any memory items on the Airbus. |
I have to bring this thread to top again. Some links don't seem to work. Does anyone have some good information material on standard procedure checklist flows?
Thanks, Dani |
