Doors to Automatic 2nd April 2007 18:07

Don't know what happened here but the spoilers don't appear to deploy at all?

And why the spoilers did not auto-retract in the air with power application like they do on the ground. Is this still the case or have systems changed since then?
From memory, on a Boeing, I think the auto speedbrake actuator has to move to the deploy position first, IE after being armed it deploys when the correct logic of WOW, wheel spin, throttles at idle etc are met. Only then can it automatically move the speedbrake (lever) to the down detent and stow the spoilers when the throttles are next advanced.
The idea is that after a normal landing and autospeedbrake deployment the speedbrake handle will be manually returned to it's down detent and as the throttles are advanced during the taxi to gate the actuator will reset to the stow position. Of course if the handle is left in the deploy position with spoliers up they will all stow on power application.:ok:

Does that make sense, it's been a while. Heads full of 'lectrick aeroplanes these days.

On the B727-200,the spoilers will be retracted on power application after a landing or in case a go-around was initiated after landing
