Bug cards
I just wondered how many operators still use paper bug cards for Vspeeds power settings etc, or have you all changed to doing this in electronic format?
|
well C, you know we dont:} , and we will keep the card system until Mr "zero cost" chokes on his cornflakes....:hmm:
|
Since 1999 no more bug cards.
All on laptop. |
Calculated with the FMS and recorded manually on datacard. Card kept for incident/accident investigation purposes!

Speeds, flex temps and weights all extracted from paper performance book. Recorded onto paper data sheet and inputted into FMS. FMS computes appropriate thrust setting.

Yep, still use our so called "vital data" cards, it contains for takeoff takeoff flap setting, max N1, speeds, actual TOM, single engine acceleration altitude, MSA, and single engine procedure. Speeds and reduction are taken out of a paper performance manual. For Landing it contains flap setting, expected landing weight, Vref (taken from the FMC or a table on the cardholder), single engine acceleration altitude, MSA and ATIS information (most of the time only which ATIS and QNH).
We might move to a notebook (well, slate) based system soon though, no idea yet how thats gonna work. In the transition phase we're gonna use a different vital data card which will include performance calculation as well. |
We use computer performance program (manually inputted) which prints a paper card. (747 Classic)

Would any of you with experience in a non-fbw airbus please pm me.
