Slat systems

Hi,

As part of my final year university project I am looking at ways of improving aircraft slat systems.

Has anyone got any experience designing these systems?

In particular I’m looking at the rollers, but I’m finding it difficult to obtain information on loading, materials, friction etc. Can anyone point me in the direction of some specifications or information on slat track, roller and rib design?

I’m not interested in the aerodynamic design just the structure.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, not the answer to your question, but while you are redesigning slats, come up with a wing anti ice system that can be used on the ground! Surely there has got to be a way!

Yes, I am aware of the 30sec test on Airbus, and Boeing limitation on ground use, surely it cant be that hard? Most operaters would be more than prepared to cop a fairly hefty performance penality for using it when its required too.

You're hijacking the man's thread! He's asked a perfectly intelligent, serious question, and you've gone off on a campaign of your own.

Well, Elroy did say "sorry"...
