Loss Of Electrics - B737-200

Hi,

In the QRH of B737-200 there are 2 checklists for loss of electrics namely

1. LOSS OF ALL GENERATORS

2. LOSS OF BOTH ENGINE DRIVEN GENERATORS

The first one is very short and has no actions as such which means it assumes there is no APU available

Second one assumes there is APU and it asks you to try and start it. Has lot of actions for either or both busses coming online but now the part thats interesting is as follows

1.
Item 2QRH asks you to try the generators once again to see if they can come online or not, this is not the case on 1QRH.

2.
Its a long procedure on 2QRH and has lot of info irrespective if you have APU generator or not, it has procedures if you are unable to start the APU and hence remain with no generators at all.

So whats the use to have 2 separate checklists ?

Why if both end with no electrics ( thats 30 mins of battery power) , why the two checklists have different procedures at the end ?
while its the same scenario !

I tried to ask some folks around but when they try to think they seem to have same ending , 2 checklists for one purpose.

The current 737-200 QRH (6 Oct 2006), only has a LOSS OF BOTH ENGINE DRIVEN GENERATORS checklist.

The Boeing FCOMs are constantly changing, make sure your airline has the most up to date version.

Capt Sandl advice is sound. You need to be careful when reading QRH's because it is not unknown for some chief pilots to "fiddle" with these documents and insert personal opinions often based on their own experience with another type of aircraft. It comes under the label of it seems a good idea because it worked for the Concorde sort of logic.
