ABS on contaminated runway
I haved read somewhere( I cannot find where but I guess some Airbus documentation) that, when landing on a contaminated runway in strong X-wind, it is better to use ABS in LOW than MED, cause of the relationship between cornering and braking. I understand the reason but I would like to know about some paper, documentation or book to support this idea.
Thank you |
See the Airbus documents at Wing Files; - Getting to grips with Performance, Crosswind landings, autolands on contaminated runways.
I cannot immediately locate any reference to the use of ABS; I suspect that it might be in the linked document “Optimum Use of Braking Devices” within the briefing titled “Crosswind Landings” which is either in Wing Files or available from the Airbus Corporate – Ethics - Safety Library; select - Landing Techniques - “Crosswind Landings”. Alternatively, this information / file could be published on the Airbus Flight Operations Support CD which is available to operators. You could also try the ALAR Tool Kit Chapter 8 and the presentation ‘Managing Threats and Errors During Approach and Landing’. |
