vapilot,thanks....

my question is.:

I looking the FPPM ( flight planing performance manual)
I noted that you need to land at high pressure airport with flp 15( B737) ,
otherwise you do not respect the landing climb limited weight !!!
and so if i need to land at SKBO - Eldorado Intl - Bogota Columbia at 8000'..in high landin weight with oat 30-35 centigrade, I need to land with 15 flap ???

any consideretion ??
I need confirm??

LPB - El Alto Airport, La Paz, Bolivia

Elevation and runway length both 4 km. (13000 ft)

El Alto Airport, La Paz, Bolivia (13000 ft) !!!!nice to know...but it is not in the limit of B737 !! limitazion B 737 300-400 is 8400 ft altitude for TO and LDG !!

The 737 flies very well in La Paz,although it needs a AFM change ,given by Boeing,in order to land at altitudes grater than 8400'.
Also,it's a special procedure going there,i.e using oxygen masks,operating pressurization,etc...
for more info check this : http://www.b737.org.uk/lapazairport.htm
nice one

alexban thanks very much:)
also who can explain why :

Automatic Pressurization Control – Landing Airport Elevation
Above 6000 Feet
[Option - High Altitude Landing switch]
If flight is less than one hour and landing altitude is less than 9500 feet:
Use Normal Procedures.
If flight is more than one hour or landing altitude is more than 9500
feet:
Use Normal Procedures except as modified below.
Prior to takeoff:
LAND ALT indicator ..................................................... 6000 feet
At initial descent or approximately 20 minutes prior to landing:
LAND ALT indicator ..........................Destination field elevation................................................... ...

why the diff btw flight less that one hr and flight more than one hr ??:{

very interesting but I don'tknow:*

barit1 8th October 2006 22:47

I heard not long ago of an aircraft doing performace cert tests at a Chinese airfield 1000' higher than La Paz. (Forgive please - I can't recall if it was Airbus or ???)

Also - just to avoid any confusion - the title of this thread "High Density" should read "High Density Altitude". One is the opposite of the other.
