reject takeoff procedure for B777 or B747

During reject takeoff, do you extend speed brake before deploy reversers or after? Manufacturer manual states that we have to extend speed brake first but we think that to get the reversers first will automatically extend the speed brake. What is your procedure?

1. Select idle reverse
2. Ensure speedbrakes have deployed automatically, else deploy them manually
3. Select full reverse (above a certain threshhold speed).

How could we get auto speedbrake? We have to move reversers lever out to get the autospeedbrake. That means we get the reversers after idle throttle, only if the auto speed brake fail then do it manually.

Speedbrake influence is far more important than reverse, since they are vital to ensure the required maximum braking (increased downforce on the gear). Reverse is only an extra from a performance calculation point of view.

In other words: RTO with speedbrakes and no reverse will get you stopped. RTO without speedbrakes but with reverse will make the headlines much easier...

Try this in the sim: tell your instructor to randomly disable the RTO speedbrakes autodeployment function while you're doing some high speed RTO,and you'll see why Mr.B says to manually deploy them...

With the 747 Classic and the auto-spoiler sysytem, you won't know if the spoilers are going to come up when you pull reverse until you pull reverse.
Hence the question answers itself.
1. Abort takeoff.
2. Pull reverse.
3. If the auto-spoilers don't deploy, then do it manually.
