b737-800 flaps upon landing
 

Hi all,

When the aircraft is on approach what is the max amount of flaps which can be deployed before lowering the undercarriage?

From my observation, it looks as though the flaps are deployed to around 30 then when the undercarriage is lowered the remainder of the flaps are primed.

Is this about right? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

I assume it is like all 737s for which flap of more than 10 degrees without gear causes a warning horn in the cockpit (which disturbs the Captain's rest:) ) so the answer is 10 degrees.

Presumably if the Captain is a sound sleeper then full (ie 40 degrees) could be lowered before the gear, but I doubt it would ever happen.

Hi BOAC, that's great :) Does the horn sound when the aircraft is flying too fast?

Would I be correct in saying that the 'warning horn' can be configured to tie in with company SOP, or is it a standard 'Boeing Flaps 10' thing.

Paul - only when someone gets in the way:) Seriously, no - we get the 'castanets' which again can wake the Captain.

WS - AFAIK it is a standard Boeing thing since the accepted flap settings for landing range from 15-40, so anyone putting down 15 without the gear.............................
