ALPHA FLOOR
Alpha floor protection automatically sets the thrust at TOGA thrust, when the aircraft reaches a very high angle of attack. The FAC generates the signal that triggers the alpha-alpha floor mode. This, in turn, sets TOGA thrust on the engines, regardless of the thrust lever positions. The FAC sends this signal when the angle of attack is above a predetermined threshold. In CONF3 and CONF FULL, this threshold decreases as a function of the aircraft deceleration rate (down to - 3°). Alpha-alpha floor is available from lift-off until the aircraft reaches 100 feet RA in approach ALPHA PROT The top of a black and amber strip along the speed scale indicates this speed. It represents the speed corresponding to the angle of attack at which alpha alpha protection becomes active. It is displayed when in pitch normal law. Needs deliberate pilot action to exceed. ALPHA MAX The top of a red strip along the speed scale indicates this speed. It represents the speed corresponding to the maximum angle of attack that the aircraft can attain in pitch normal law. It is displayed when in pitch normal law. Pilot cannot exceed in normal law. |
