Responding to a Resolution Advisory
Do any of you out there know what is the proper (or standard) phraseology one must use towards ATC (be in on HF/VHF) when you are responding to a TCAS RA?
Cheers :ok: |
As far as I can recall at the moment.
*Callsign* TCAS Climb/Descent. *Callsign* TCAS Climb/Descent completed Alt/Fl resumed *Callsign* TCAS Climb/Descent returning to Alt/FL *Callsign* Unable to comply, TCAS Resolution Advisory CM |
Did one the other day and my colleague called 'xx123 clear of conflict returning FLXXX' when clear of the conflicting traffic. Don't remember if that is standard or not.

Verbatim from Cap 413, your options are
“TCAS Climb/Descent” “Clear of Conflict, returning to FL xxx” If unable to report it at the time, do it afterwards “TCAS Climb/Descent, Clear of conflict, FL xxx resumed” If given a heading but unable “Unable to comply, TCAS RA” |
See the information on TCAS / ACAS from Eurocontrol linked from here Wrong reaction to “Adjust Vertical Speed” RA
|
Does the Adjust Vertical Speed RA still trigger the red visual guidance bars on the PFD? Just wondering what causes the incorrect pilot input in so many cases. I haven't encountered that particular RA as yet!
|
Guess it depends what you fly.
The 'Bus gives a green area on the VS tape that corresponds to the reduction of climb or descent required. |
