Thielert engine failure

Can anyone advise if the Thielert powered, FADEC controlled C172 constant speed prop will windmill if the engine loses power(assuming glide attitude)? Not willing to demonstrate engine stop until I understand potential problems...

Since it is a geared propeller I would think it would probably not windmill? Same engine in the Twin Star, but that autofeathers.

Is there no clue in the flight manual supplement, e.g. a engine failure or in flight start procedure? If not perhaps you should contact Centurion or the UK STC holder.

I would be interested to know the answer.

The prop should continue to windmill above 65KIAS if it does not then it should be investigated before you attempt a restart.

Thanks, can you cite the source document where you found this information?

Pray tell a non driver but interested party sitting beside, what 'investigations ' on the way down ?! Quite used to gazing gormlessly at guages.

I've experience of coming in on a deeply disturbed engine ( & pilot too but that's another story ) - would be rather nice if it feathered rather than knocking up drag, 65 kt sounds a bit borderline to me - luckily never had both snags at the same time.
