Doc!

Hi everybody,

I am brand new here, and I have a quick question:

Comparing B744 with classic, what does a lower DOC mean?

any idea?

thanks

Direct Operating Cost. Incidently, this is Tech Log- 'Specialist technical discussion for Airline Pilots with a flair for that kind of thing'. Better placed in Questions?

I think this is correct- DOC is the cost per seat per unit distance, as in $ per seat km so you can compare say the cost of 410 people transported a set distance in a 747-400 against 380 people the same distance in a 747-200. It may be in dollars per unit payload weight per km. It's a direct measure of efficiency.

Rainboe,

No, that's seat/mile cost. DOC is total gross Direct Operating Cost- E.G a 747-400 may have a lower DOC whilst having a higher seat/mile cost than an A380
