I'm not sure I understand the question correctly, but all 747 gears do tilt in flight. |
Re: Grar tilt down of B767
I think he means the 767 gear tilts with fwd wheels down, rear up.
747 has rear wheels down, front up. All to do with making sure the gear fits into the landing gear bay I think. |
Re: Grar tilt down of B767
Yes, it's to fit into the bay - saves space without changing the gear geometry.
The 747 has so many tyres hanging out at all these odd angles - airborne the feet look all akimbo. :) |
Re: Grar tilt down of B767
The 767 gear tilts that particular way so it can be stowed easily on retraction.
The fact that Boeing gears tilt, whether it be forward or aft, is part of the signalling mechanism that the aircraft is either on the ground "untilted" or airborne "tilted." |

Hello kuobin
You have just asked the question we ask all apprentices.... The answer is.... So the landing gear fits into the landing gear bay. The only reason any gear tilts is to fit into the hole made to store them during flight. :ok: |
